"We're incredibly excited to have Seth as the host for the 2012 Film Independent Spirit Awards and join us in celebrating this year's exquisite films and talented filmmaking artists. Seth's charm, intelligence and quick wit are sure to light up the room and will make for a truly entertaining afternoon," said Film Independent senior director Sean Mc Manus. Jennifer Caserta, executive vice president and general manager of IFC added: "Seth is one of the smartest and funniest actors today and we look forward to him making this one of the most entertaining Spirit Awards yet. IFC is a growing brand for original comedy programming, and our viewers are in for a good time with Seth hosting." Rogen served as an executive producer on the Indie Spirit Award-nominated film 50/50, inspired by real life experiences of his best friend Will Reiser, who penned the screenplay. Rogen was nominated for an Emmy in 2005 for outstanding writing for a variety, music or comedy for Da Ali G Show. He appeared in Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared television series, both from Judd Apatow, before heading into film. Most recently, he has starred in Pineapple Express, Knocked Up, Superbad, The Green Hornet and offered his voice to the Kung Fu Panda films, Monsters vs. Aliens and Horton Hears a Who!. Next, Rogen stars in Neighborhood Watch, My Mother's Curse and Take This Waltz. Longtime Indie Spirit Awards executive producer Diana Zahn-Storey will return. Zahn-Storey left Film Independent in 2009 to co-found Nuts-n-Bolts Productions. Additional members of the producing team includes: director and producer Ivan Dudynsky from Live Animals; producer Shawn Davis; producer John Hamilton; and Audrey Morrissey, who will serve as consulting producer this year.
